Solid Hard Maple end grain. Durable and pleasing to the eye. End grain is easier on your fine cutlery. Picture a paint brush, now the knife moves down through the end (end grain) of the brush, the bristles open up posing less resistance to and less dulling effect to the edge of the knife. Same paint brush and knife, as the the knife rides along the side of the brush there is no give and the blade dulls faster. In addition the end grain fibers close back together keeping debris out witch fosters bacteria growth.
I love to delight customers. Fulfilling commitments is job one. When creating cutting boards or anything else for that matter I use only the best raw materials, and processes to achieve the highest quaility I can. If you aren't remarkably delighted then I am not either.

My first recollection of wood as something to be used creatively was in 3rd grade art class. The teacher handed out pieces of plywood and the assignment was to glue an assortment of beans into any design we wished. I saw the grain pattern and used that as my design. The teacher was thrilled I had chosen that method as I was the only student to do so. Wood nerdom born! To this day I am fascinated with wood and its beauty, noticing the grain and how nature randomly creates these patterns.
